Central Finland Week Festivities 13.–18.4.
Where Sustainability Meets Safety
Central Finland Day is celebrated annually on April 18, when the name Central Finland was first mentioned in history. Although this year the holiday falls on a Saturday, we will be celebrating as usual throughout the week.
Join us to celebrate Central Finland Week on April 13-18, 2026
We invite municipalities, organisations, businesses, and all residents of Central Finland to build this celebration together. Central Finland Week is an opportunity to highlight the best our region has to offer: stories, images, places, people, and events that make Central Finland unique. It is also a chance to share what kind of future we are building here, at the heart of it all.
The theme of this year, inspired by the new regional strategy, is Where Sustainability Meets Safety. For us, sustainability is reflected in responsible use of nature and environment, in expertise, and in innovation. Safety comes from communities, trust exercised in everyday life, so that people and ideas can grow here. When these come together, it consolidates a strong foundation for a bright future. From the center you can see far.
Central Finland Week can take many forms: images, stories, events, open doors, community gatherings, cultures, sports or discussions. Small acts and local ideas are also part of the celebration. Most important is that what you do tells a story about your own place in the heart of Finland.
We encourage municipalities and other organisations to participate by highlighting places, stories and people from Central Finland. You can also submit your event to the celebration week’s program. We will compile the events onto a shared website to improve visibility and reach as many people as possible.
Submit your event to the program using the registration form (Webropol).
The program for Central Finland Week will be published on the website (In Finnish).
By also submitting an event to the shared events calendar, it will also appear in the calendar view of Central Finland’s website.
Welcome to celebrate Central Finland!
