Central Finland Cultural Forum in Joutsa – 2 October
Where the best of culture comes together
The Central Finland Cultural Forum will take place at the Haihatus Art Center in Joutsa on Thursday, 2 October 2025, from 12:00 to 16:00. The event will showcase cultural actors from Central Finland, share current updates from the region and elsewhere in Finland, and discuss the role of municipalities as supporters and producers of culture.
During the afternoon, participants will hear about the activities of the Tuo Tuo residency and the “Kukkiva Kylä” (Blooming Village) project in Joutsa, explore Laukaa’s cultural programme, and get practical tips from Viitasaari on how to join major international EU-funded projects. In addition, a panel featuring representatives from Saarijärvi, Laukaa, Joutsa and Asikkala will discuss the municipality’s role in supporting culture.
The forum will also provide the latest information on the Regional Strategy for Central Finland and on the Arts Promotion Centre Finland’s guide for municipal decision-makers. Music for the day will be provided by Joutsa-based harpist Rachel McIntosh.
The forum will be opened by Harri Nissinen, Municipal Manager of Joutsa, and moderated by Kimmo Suortamo, Cultural Specialist at the Regional Council of Central Finland.
Participation is free of charge. The event is organised by the Regional Council of Central Finland, the Municipality of Joutsa, and the Arts Promotion Centre Finland.
